WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman volleyball team heads down to Texas for a two game road trip. The Jets will matchup against Texas A&M International Thursday (Oct. 18) with first serve set for 7 p.m. The Jets have fell to the DustDevils twice this year, however the Jets have been right there in each match and will look for their first conference win of the year. The Jets will conclude their two game road trip in San Antonio, TX against St. Mary's Saturday (Oct. 20) at 12 p.m. The Jets lost in three straight sets the first time the two teams met up.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets (1-20, 0-6 in Heartland) dropped both sets last week against the top two teams in the Heartland Conference. The Jets fell on the road against the second team in the Heartland Arkansas-Fort Smith (10-25, 11-25 and 15-25). The Jets fell to the top team in the Heartland last Saturday (Oct. 13) in three straight sets to Lubbock Christian (14-25, 23-25 and 10-25).
SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS
Texas A&M International (4-16, 2-4 in Heartland) split last week in their two matches. The DustDevils fell in three straight sets against Dallas Baptist. The DustDevils however responded well last Saturday defeating St. Edward's in a (3-2) five set victory, collecting their second conference win of the season.
SCOUTING THE RATTLERS
St. Mary's (10-11, 4-2 in Heartland) heads into the week looking to start a new winning streak after going 1-1 last week. The Rattlers started last week off with a 3-0 sweep over St. Edward's on Thursday. The Rattlers fell to Dallas Baptist in straight sets, ending a four game win streak. The Rattlers will host Arkansas-Fort Smith Thursday night before welcoming in the Jets on Saturday.
