Jets Look To Make More Strides In Conference This Weekend

WICHITA, Kan. — After a good matchup and conference win on the road the Newman men's basketball team return home this week to take on St. Mary's and Texas A&M International Thursday and Saturday. The Jets used a buzzer beater to take down St. Edward's on the road last week and looking to keep that momentum going into this week's action.

SCOUTING NEWMAN

The Jets (11-11, 7-4 Heartland) got two big conference wins at home and on the road Thursday and Saturday. The Jets welcomed No. 17 Arkansas Fort-Smith to Fugate Thursday, the Jets would use physical defense and smart offense to defeat the Lions 73-64. Saturday the Jets would travel to Austin to take on St. Edward's and the teams would go back and forth until the final seconds of the game where the Jets would come out victorious after a buzzer beater from DeAndre Johnson giving the team a 73-71 victory.

SCOUTING THE RATTLERS

The Rattlers (7-15, 3-7 Heartland) would have a 0-2 weekend as they finished up their nonconference schedule and suffered a conference loss. Thursday the Rattlers traveled to Wichita Falls, Texas to take on Midwestern State in a nonconference matchup the Rattlers would come up short against the Mustangs losing 79-69. Saturday the team returned home to welcome the Chaps of Lubbock Christian the Rattlers would lose a tough game at home 55-48.

SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS

The Dustdevils (9-13, 2-8 Heartland) are coming off two good conference wins Thursday and Saturday, winning both games at home. Thursday the Dustdevils welcomed the Hilltoppers to their home court and the Dustdevils would come away with a clutch fie point victory. Saturday the team hosted the chaps of Lubbock Christian and this game would be close throughout but the Dustdevils came out victorious 49-48.

NOTES

-Going into the last couple weeks of conference play the Jets are looking steady sitting at third right now looking to make a jump with this weekend's games.

-Newman has been able to score offensively all season the Jets are currently fourth in the conference in ppg at 76.6.
