ARLINGTON, Texas — Locked into a close match the entire day, the Newman men's tennis team pulled off a 5-4 win over Texas A&M-Texarkana Sunday to finish off an unbeaten weekend.
The Jets (9-8) moved over .500 on the season by grabbing a tiebreak win at No. 3 doubles from Diego Rojo and Ajani King to go up 2-1. They sealed the victory with Szbin Pusztay at No. 5 singles, which was the final court in play with the match tied 4-4, as the freshman earned a 3-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 win.
Diego Rojo at No. 3 and Blake Crawford at No. 4 also added crucial singles wins.
The Jets look to continue their shocking midseason turnaround with after a short break, starting April 6 against St. Mary's.
