WICHITA, Kan. — Another tough regular season behind them, the Newman men's and women's tennis teams get their postseason started this weekend at the 2018 Heartland Conference Tennis Championships.

The Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas will play host to the event, with Newman lining up to play St. Mary's in both brackets.

HISTORY LESSON
The Jet men have now reached the Heartland tournament in all 11 years of league membership. They are 4-10 overall, having reached the championship match three times, including last season.
The Newman women are making their ninth appearance in the conference postseason, and are after their first victory.
NOTES
-The St. Mary's women are going for their sixth consecutive conference tournament title. They are ranked No. 6 in the country in the latest ITA rankings, and topped No. 20 St. Edward's 6-3 for the regular season crown.
-The Newman men's takedown of St. Edward's in last year's semifinals was the first Heartland tournament defeat for the Hilltoppers since 2008. They'll be going for their ninth title in 10 years — and 11th overall — this weekend after earning the regular season title with a narrow 5-4 win over St. Mary's.
