9/19/2018 2:21:00 PM

WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman women's soccer team continues their four game road trip Thursday and Saturday, their longest road trip of the season. The Jets will travel down south to face conference foes Texas A&M International and St. Mary's in Heartland Conference.

SCOUTING NEWMAN

The Jets (5-1-0, 1-1-0 Heartland) started their road trip off with a bang on Thursday at Oklahoma Christian with a 6-0 shutout victory extending their best start in program history to 5-0-0 on the year. Newman got things going quick scoring four goals in the first half taking full control into the locker room. Junior Kennedy Weaver put on a strong second half scoring two goals knotting her first collegiate hat trick.

Against Lubbock Christian the Jets saw their best start in school history come to an end falling 2-1. The Jets jumped out front early on Grace Linton's fourth goal on the year. Lubbock Christian despite being outshot and down at the half scored two goals in less than five minutes apart. The Jets were outshot 14-9 in the match and outshot 8-1 in the second half.

SCOUTING THE Dustdevils

Texas A&M International (1-3-0, 0-2-0 Heartland) had a rough last week dropping both conference road contests against Dallas Baptist University 4-0 and St. Edward's University 1-0. The Dustdevils head into the contest on Thursday night having lost their last 3 games while being outscored in those contests 8-1.

SCOUTING THE RATTLERS

St. Mary's (1-2-1, 0-2-0 Heartland) struggled last week on the road as they dropped both games to St. Edward's 2-0 and to Dallas Baptist University 3-0. The Rattlers were unable to find the back of the net in both contests, but some of that could have been due to not playing a game in 12 days, as their previous two scheduled games were cancelled. The Rattlers will take on Rogers State on Thursday before the Jets come to town on Saturday.
