LAST TIME OUT
Despite outscoring the Sentinels in both the first and second half, it was a close game for most of the first half.  After a three point basket by Kalin Johnson took the Jets lead to eight, Newman would go on a 27-14 run in the last 9 minutes of the first half to extend their lead to 21 at the half. In the second half, Newman kept pouring it on the Sentinels and got to their largest lead of the game with 1:10 left when Omar Boone made a layup to eclipse the 100 point mark for the second time this season. Newman shot 38-of-64 from the floor for 59 percent, 10-of-20 from three for 50 percent and 15-of-17 from the free throw line for 88 percent. Newman was led in scoring by Kalin Johnson with a career high, 20 points. Allen Wilson added 14 of his own to help lead the Jets to victory. The Jets had 6 players score double figures, Marshawn Blackmon, Juwan Davenport, Kaleb Allison and Jacob Birnbaum all had 10 points each.

THE COACHES
RJ Allen is in his third season as the head coach and ninth on the staff for the Jets. Allen is 5-5 in his third season at Newman. Allen has led Newman to a 35-23 overall record and a 21-11 Heartland Conference record over his first two seasons. Allen won Heartland Conference Coach of the Year honors in the 2017-18 season, he was the first coach to win the award in their first season. Prior to Newman Allen spent 5 season as an assistant coach at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn.
Adam Hooker is in his first season at the helm for the Warriors. Hooker is an Olathe, KS native and has led the warriors to a 3-11 record in his first season while trying to rebuild the program.

ABOUT THE JETS
The Jets are 5-5 on the season, 0-2 in the MIAA. Newman is led in scoring by senior forward, Marshawn Blackmon at 15.8 points per game and Juwan Davenport at 12.9 points per game. Blackmon also leads the Jets in rebounding as he is averaging just under 10 per game at 9.8.

ABOUT THE WARRIORS
Sterling College is 3-11 on the season, 1-8 in the KCAC. The Warriors are led in scoring by senior forward, Isaac Ostrosky at 22.5 points per game. The Warriors are led in rebounding by JaMiah Windom-Haynes at 6.3 rebounds per game.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 9th matchup between Sterling and Newman with the previous 8 coming between 2003 and 2008. Newman leads the series 5-3, winning the last two meetings. The last meeting was a double overtime thriller that saw the Jets pull out an 11 point victory.
