Box Score WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman men's tennis team posted their first shutout of the year with a 7-0 win over Kansas Wesleyan Wednesday morning (Feb. 27). The win snaps a three game losing streak as the Jets improve to 2-4 on the year.
Newman jumped out to an early 1-0 match lead taking the doubles point with a 2-1 set win after No. 1 doubles Justo and Soome claimed a 6-4 win and No. 3 Antelj and Miasato claimed the set with a 6-2 win.
No. 1 Arthur Justo set the tone for the Jets in singles action cruising to a 6-3, 6-1 win extending the match lead 2-0. No. 4 Marcel Miasato put Newman in front 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-3 win. No. 5 Ajani King secured Newman's match win with a 6-3, 6-2 win.
No. 2 Blake Crawford and No. 3 Lauri Soome continued the shutout with three set wins. No. 6 Ian Clifton won in two sets 6-2, 6-2 concluding the 7-0 match victory.
