AVLA, Okla. — The Newman baseball team dropped a tough game on the road to Northwestern Oklahoma State. The Jets coming off a road conference series against Oklahoma Christian were looking to bounce back.
In the first couple of innings, both teams were scoring back and forth no team really gaining an edge. The Jets were able to jump out and score early getting production from players such as Mitchell Austin who had a single and an RBI in the third, while Daniel Blake added a double to right field and an RBI giving the Jets the early 4-3 lead.
The Rangers would come back and get their own insurance runs getting a big third inning to jump out to an early lead but the Jets didn't bend, being able to get back within four runs late in the seventh on a bases loaded hit by pitch from Matt Reeves scoring Austin the lead was now 9-5 but that would be all the Jets were able to get as they would drop the road contest.
Outfielder Koby Millner gave the Jets a 3-for-5 day while Spencer Lloyd and Mitchell Austin added two hits and two RBIs.
The Jets travel back to McCarthy Field as they welcome St. Mary's for a weekend series beginning Thursday Mar. 21 first pitch scheduled for 2 PM.
