WICHITA, Kan. – Newman women's tennis team dropped their first conference match of the season Friday morning (Mar. 22) against Dallas Baptist with the final score of 5-2. With the loss the Jets fall to 9-8 on the year and drop to 1-1 in Heartland Conference play.
In doubles action, the Jets were blanked by the Patriots in all three matches dropping the doubles point.
After falling behind 3-0 in the match after suffering defeats at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, No. 3 Isabela Bifano put the Jets on the scoreboard hoping to spark a comeback.
No. 4 Emily Young pulled the Jets to within a point 3-2, coming back with second and third set wins (2-6, 6-3 and 6-4) setting up an opportunity to even the match up.
Meanwhile the Patriots put the match away with a win at No. 5 singles and would tack on another point claiming No. 6 singles to conclude the contest.
The Newman women's tennis suffered a 6-1 defeat to Southern Arkansas University Friday afternoon (Mar. 15). The Jets fall to 9-7 on the season, while the Muleriders improve to 13-3 on the year.
No. 1 Vlada Litvinova's streak of five straight wins in singles action came to a stop falling (2-6 and 4-6).
