Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Roadrunners Hand Jets Third Straight Loss

WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman women's tennis team dropped their third consecutive match on Monday afternoon (Mar. 25) falling 5-2, to Metropolitan State University of Denver. The Jets fall 9-9 on the season and move to .500 for just the second time this season since starting the year 1-1.

Looking for the season sweep, the Jets got off to a slow start dropping the doubles points. No. 2 Emily Young and Isabela Bifano secured the lone doubles win for the Jets, 6-2.

Falling behind 2-0 in the match after dropping No. 1 singles, No. 2 Vlada Litvinova trimmed the deficit winning both sets (6-2, 6-2) over Alex Pessoa. No. 4 Emily Young evened the match 2-2 picking up her second singles match (6-2, 6-3).

The Jets looked to be on the verge of having their first lead after No. 3 Isabela Bifano took the first set (6-4), however Helena Steenberg responded back claiming both the second and third sets putting MSU Denver back in front 3-2.

The Jets were unable to pick up another point suffering defeats at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
