LAREDO, Texas — Texas A&M International completed a sweep of the Newman softball team on Saturday. The Jets fought in all three games keeping them all close and keeping their opponent to three runs in the final two games.
In the bottom of the first, the Dustdevils were able to get on the board first, they scored three runs on five hits. Texas A&M got things started with a single to left field and a steal later the team would get another single scoring their first run of the game and two batters later the team would get a bases loaded hit by pitch and a single for the early 3-0 lead. .
The Jets began their big inning and comeback attempt in the top of the fourth. Emma Eck double, then Lauryn Ogden singled to right to advance Eck to third. Finally, Kameron Pope had a sacrifice fly to score Eck, the lead was now cut to two but the Dustdevils would get the game three victory with three scoreless innings.
Eight Jets were able to record a hit in the series finale, while Paige Wallace gave the jets a multi-hit game going 2-for-4.
The Jets travel to Liberty, Mo to take on William Jewell in a double-header on Tuesday, (Mar. 12.)
