WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman women's tennis team ended a two match skid Saturday afternoon (Apr. 13) with a strong 6-1 victory over Southwestern College. The win moves the Jets to 12-11 on the year while the Moundbuilders drop to 10-5 on the season.
In doubles action, the Jets cruised sweeping all three matches gaining the 1-0 match lead.
No. 4 singles Emily Young continued her strong season rolling in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) giving the Jets a 2-0 match lead over Southwestern. No. 3 Isabela Bifano put the Jets one point away from securing the match winning (6-2, 6-1). Junior, Vlada Litvinova secured the Jets victory winning both sets (6-2, 6-4) at No. 1 singles.
No. 5 Mirella Calvalcanti and No. 6 Mariana Gaviria each secured match wins adding to the 6-1 match victory.
