WICHITA, Kan. - The Newman Men's Soccer team opened up conference play tonight with a hard fought win over a previously undefeated Hillcats squad. These two teams are no strangers to each other, as they were both in the Heartland Conference together before making the transition to the Great American Conference at the same time. Newman goalkeeper 
Jean Consol was able to hold the Hillcats scoreless for the first time this season with help from the Jet defenders. The Jets would have to play down a man for the last 10 minutes after Ed Jabarri picked up his second yellow. Despite that, the defense was able to hold on and secure Newman's first conference win of the season.

Key Sequence

The Jets were able to strike first when halfway through the second half Ignacio Lerech delivered a long ball to Davide Panucci. Pannucci was able to take the ball up the right side of the box and chip one past the goalie as he came out towards him just sneaking it inside the left post.
