WICHITA, KS - Newman was back on Wilkins Field two days removed from an overtime loss to #18 UCM.  The Jets have been close in almost every match.  Inches away from wins or ties all season long, Jay Holmes' team was desperate for a positive result.

As the Lions and Jets took the field, you could feel the energy coming from both sides and just a drive to want to finish.  Jackie Lari continued her string of quality performances in net, backing up a career high in saves with a 7 save shutout against MSSU.

The two teams were evenly matched, but it was the Lions with the shot edge 7 to 4.  With solid defensive playing and impressive goalkeeping, the Jets were able to keep the team in the game.

In the 60th minute, Makenzie Shay netted the eventual game winning goal, pushing the Jets over the hump and getting a win in the win column.  It was Shay's second goal on the year and first game winner of her career.

Up next, the Jets continue their 4 game home stand with a Friday night match versus the Washburn Ichabods.  Kickoff is 7 PM at Wilkins.
