Edmond, OK - Newman returned to Edmond, Oklahoma for the second time this season. Newman headed to Edmond earlier in the season for the Broncho Invitational for four matches. This was Newman's second time playing UCO. UCO bested the Jets 3-1 on September 18, but Tuesday nights match was all Bronchos. UCO rolled to a straight set victory over the Jets.
Newman's offense sputtered all night long hitting a measly .050 as a team. UCO hit just .171, but that number is skewed by an 11 error set 2. The Jets had their blocks going per usual picking up 7 as a squad.
Jada Key tallied 4 blocks and
Abby Borough scored a trio of blocks along with Key.
Riley Daugherty paced Newman hitters with only 9 kills, which is atypical of
Jose Lugo's individual leaders in kills. Daugherty also collected 14 digs. the team was led by
Paiton Haga who had herself 15 digs.
Up next, the Jets will travel home for a date with UCM on Saturday at 3 PM in Fugate Gymnasium. Stay tuned for schedule updates on newmanjets.com.
