HAYS, Kan. - Newman traveled to Hays, Kansas to take on Cameron in a non-conference matchup at a neutral site. Shots were not falling for Newman from range which hampered the Jets. Cameron took the game 97-65 Friday afternoon.
The two teams traded baskets to begin the game, but Cameron separated from the Jets with 10 first half threes. Newman did not hit a single three going 0-14 from deep. Cameron was able to shoot 55.2% from long range and 52.5% overall.
The Jets were unable to affect Cameron shots from range, while it seemed nothing was falling for Newman on the other end. It was not for a lack of chances. The Jets corralled 18 offensive boards, yet had just 10 second chance points on the night.
Newman got 34 points off the bench.
Laura Bello scored her first collegiate points tonight with a whopping 19 in 11 minutes. Bello shot 7 of 10 from the field and was the leading scorer for the Jets. Bello added 6 boards as well in her brief stint of the bench.
Britney Ho grabbed 9 rebounds while scoring 7 points in 20 minutes.
Faith Mason-Vestal amassed her third consecutive double digit scoring game with 12 points of her own.
