WICHITA, Kan. - The Jets hosted Manhattan Christian in the second game of a Newman vs. the Thunder double header with the men's and women's teams. The men rolled to a 14 point win, 81-67.
Newman is now 3-2 and sits with that winning record heading into MIAA play next week. Tonight's win was just what Coach
R.J. Allen ordered up just after the Thanksgiving holiday.
Israel Barnes made his season debut for the Jets and in just 17 minutes put up 17 points. Barnes also accumulated 6 rebounds, one assist and a block.
Two other Jets scored in double figures.
Jorge Oliva started and scored 10 points on 4 of 8 shooting from the field.
Stevie Strong backed up his 20 point performance with another 10 off the bench.
Newman will look to sure up a few rotations heading into conference play. Having a nearly full powered team will help the Jets as they head to Pittsburg, Kansas. The Jets will take on the Gorillas December 1st.
