LAST TIME OUT
Neither team would be able to get much of anything going early in the first half as just five minutes into the opening period the Bronchos would lead 12-5. From that point on in the half, the Bronchos would take control. They would outscore Newman 35-11 to close out the half, taking a 47-16 lead into the intermission. In the second half, the Jets would play nearly even with the Bronchos as they would get outscored by just two points in the half. In a game that would be nearly identical to the first meeting with a reversed outcome, the Jets would fall to the Bronchos 94-61.
THE COACHES
RJ Allen is in his fourth season as the head coach and tenth on the staff for the Jets. Allen is 2-15, 2-15 in the MIAA in his fourth season at Newman. Last season under coach Allen, the Jets went 9-19 and 3-16 in the MIAA. Â Allen has led Newman to a 34-23 overall record and a 21-11 Heartland Conference record over his first two seasons. Allen won Heartland Conference Coach of the Year honors in the 2017-18 season, he was the first coach to win the award in their first season. Prior to Newman Allen spent 5 season as an assistant coach at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn.
Will Martin is in his first season as Missouri Western Men's Basketball head coach. Will spent two seasons as assistant men's basketball coach at Missouri Western prior to taking the helm. Martin, a Franklin, Tennessee native, also had three stops at NCAA Division I institutions before his arrival to St. Joseph. Most recently, Martin served assistant men's basketball coach and the director of athletic admissions at Martin Methodist College (NAIA).

This will be the second all-time meeting between these schools with the Griffons leading the series 1-0 over Newman.
LAST TIME VS MISSOURI WESTERN
In the first half, Newman would find themselves in an early hole trailing 9-0 before a
Tyjil Hereford jumper would end the scoring drought. Newman struggled shooting in the first half going 8-31 from the field. Missouri Western would take advantage of the Jets struggles outscoring Newman 36-23 in the first half. In the second half, Missouri Western kept taking it to Newman as they would outscore Newman 45-34 in the second half on their way to an 81-57 win over the Jets.
