CHOCTAW, Okla. – The Jets started their two day Oklahoma road trip facing off with the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm. Newman would come up short in the high scoring contest as the Crimson Storm would score one run in the bottom of the 7
th to beat the Jets 10-9.
Taylor Ullery would get the scoring started in the top of the first with a one out, two run homerun that drove in
Anissa Ramos.
Kaitlyn Praught would get things going again for the Jets with a walk.
Lauren Kwak would drive Praught in to give Newman an early 3-0 lead. The Crimson Storm would score one run in the bottom half.
Southern Nazarene would blow the game wide open as they would score 6 runs in the bottom of the second inning including a grand slam to take a 7-3 lead. Newman would respond in the third inning scoring two runs. Kwak would drive Ullery for the first run and and
Megan Walz would reach on an error that would score Praught. Trailing 7-5, Newman would keep Southern Nazarene scoreless in the bottom of the third. Ullery would come up with a runner on base in the fourth inning where she would hit her second homerun of the contest to tie the game up 7-7.
In the sixth, Newman would break the tie when a
Lauren Kuhrt single would drive in
Emma Eck to take an 8-7 lead. SNU would answer back in the bottom half scoring two runs to take the lead back 9-8. Ullery would come up big for the Jets once again as she would reach on an error that would score
Paige Wallace to tie the game up at 9-9 heading in to the bottom of the 7
th inning. The Crimson Storm would get the bases loaded with two outs where they would score on a passed ball to take a 10-9 victory over the Jets.
Taylor Ullery would lead the way for the Jets offensively as she would go 3 for 5 with 4 RBI's, 3 runs scored and 2 homeruns.
The Jets will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they take on Oklahoma Baptist at 12:00 pm and Oklahoma Christian at 2:30 pm.
