Jets Drop Both Contest in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City, Okla. – The Newman Softball team would face off with both Oklahoma Baptist and #12 Oklahoma Christian at Tom Heath Field on the campus of Oklahoma Christian. The Jets would lose both contests as they would fall to OKBU 10-2 and OCU 11-0 with both games only going five innings.
 
Oklahoma Baptist would get the scoring started in the first contest of the day as they would strike for one run in the bottom of the first inning. Newman would respond scoring two runs in the top of the second inning when Lauren Kuhrt would smack a triple to right center that would score Lauren Kwak and Emma Eck. From there on out it would be all Bisons as they would score three runs in second inning, fourth inning and fifth inning on their way to a 10-2 victor over the Jets.
 
Lauren Kwak would go 1 for 2 with a run scored and Lauren Kuhrt would go 1 for 2 with a triple and 2 RBI's.
 
In the second contest of the day for the Jets, neither team would get much of anything going in the first inning. In the bottom half of the second inning, the Eagles offense would explode for 8 runs on 7 hits with Newman committing one error. Oklahoma Christian would plate three more runs in the third inning to complete the scoring for the contest as they would take down Newman 11-0.
 
Anissa Ramos and Paige Wallace would both go 1 for 2 in the contest.
 
The Jets will be back on the diamond on Tuesday March 2, as they host Northwestern Oklahoma State in a doubleheader with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 pm.
