CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Newman Softball team took on Rogers State a day earlier than originally scheduled due to forecasted weather in Northeastern Oklahoma. The Hillcats would take both games beating the Jets 12-0 and 6-0.
In game one, the Hillcats would put up all of their runs in the first three innings scoring three in the first, 4 in the second and 5 in the third on their way to a 12-0 win over the Jets.
Shanda Cox would be the lone bright spot for the Jets in the contest offensively as she would reach base in both of her at bats.
The Hillcats would strike first in game two with two solo homeruns in the bottom half of the first inning. They would push another run across another run to take an early 3-0 lead. Newman would hold Rogers State scoreless in the next two innings, but would be unable to score any runs. The Hillcats would hit another solo homerun in the fifth and a two run shot in the sixth to push their lead to 6-0, the eventual final score.
The Jets will be back in action tomorrow, March 11
th as they take on Northeastern State in a MIAA Conference doubleheader with first pitch set for noon.
