WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman Women's Tennis team took on Northwest Missouri and Washburn this past weekend. The Jets would fall to the Bearcats 6-1 and the Ichabods 7-0.
Against Northwest, 
Antonia Ramos and 
Emily Young would pick up the Jets only win in doubles in the #1 position 6-4. 
Isabela Campos Bifano and 
Marie Brunet would lose their contest 6-4. 
Mirella D'Angelo Cavalcanti and 
Lauren Esfeld would drop their match 6-2.
In singles, Young would drop her contest 6-3, 6-1. Bifano would win the first set 6-4 before dropping the next two 6-3, 6-3. Brunet would lose 6-1, 7-5. Ramos would pick up the first set 6-3, then drop the next two 6-4, 10-5. Cavalcanti would pick up the lone point for Newman in the match with a 6-4, 2-6, 10-6 victory. Esfeld would drop a pair of 6-0 sets.
Against the Ichabods, Young and Ramos would lose their doubles matchup 6-4. Brunet and Bifano would lose in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-4). Cavalcanti and Esfeld would drop their contest 6-1.
Young would drop her #1 singles matchup 6-3, 6-0. Bifano would lose the first set in tiebreaker 7-6(7-4) and the second 6-2. Ramos would drop her contest 6-3, 6-0. Brunet would fall in her match 6-3, 6-2. Cavalcanti would lose her contest 6-4, 6-2. Esfeld would fall 6-1, 6-0.
The Jets will be back in action on Friday, April 2
nd as they take on Emporia State in Emporia, Kan. at 10:30 am.
