TOPEKA, Kan. – The Newman Softball team kept to the road as they took on Washburn. The Ichabods would win game one 5-4 and game two 11-1.
Washburn would get the scoring started in game one as they would score all five of their runs in the second inning. Neither team would get anything going until the top of the seventh inning when Newman would string together four doubles in a row from
Paige Wallace,
Lauren Kuhrt,
Lauren Kwak and
Shanda Cox. Kuhrt and Kwak would also pick up RBI's. In the inning, the Jets would get a sacrifice fly from
Taylor Ullery and an RBI ground out from
Anissa Ramos. Newman's comeback would fall just short as Washburn would hold on late for the 5-4 win.

The Jets would get on the board in the top of the fifth on a bases loaded walk from Wallace that would score Ullery, but that would be all Newman would get as Washburn would take game two 11-1.
