WICHITA, Kan. – On a warm and windy Friday afternoon in Wichita, the Newman Jets continued their homestand as #17 Central Oklahoma came to town for an MIAA Conference doubleheader. The Jets were able to win game one in dramatic fashion 8-7, but would fall in game two 7-1.

The Bronchos would start the scoring off in game one scoring one in the top of the first after a Jets miscue to take the early 1-0 lead.  The Jets would respond in the bottom of the first starting with a RBI double by Anissa Ramos, and a 2 RBI Single by Emma Eck that gave the Jets a 3-1 lead. Central Oklahoma would tie the game in the top of the 2nd scoring two runs to make the score 3-3. The Bronchos would take the lead in the top of the third with a RBI double making the score 4-3. UCO would tie the game in the top of the 7th with a RBI single forcing Newman to come to the plate in the bottom half. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th inning and a runner on 2nd base, Ramos would hit a pop fly in the infield, but the Broncho second basemen would drop the fly ball that would allow Shanda Cox to score from second base giving the Jets the 8-7 walkoff win.

This was Newman's first win against a ranked opponent since joining the MIAA Conference.
