BLUE SPRINGS, MO - Newman saw 4 freshmen make their collegiate debuts in their opening tournament. The Jets played two rounds at Adams Pointe Golf Club. The team finished 16th overall at the Central Region Preview.
The par 72 5,910 yard course provided the Jets with plenty of opportunity to learn and grow within their games.The course featured many changes in elevation. With uphill and downhill slopes and wind there were a ton of factors that went into club choices on both days.
The Jets were led throughout by Felisa Sajulga. She paced the team with rounds of 76 and 78. Sajulga's scores earned her tied for 21st individually. Kassidy Chance who placed 63rd shook off some early jitters from round one to round two shooting a team best 6 shots better in the 2nd round with a 79.
Bethany Griffiths, Alivia Nguyen and Britney Wessley each gained valuable experience on the course. The three freshmen were welcomed to collegiate golf with a challenging course and embraced the difficulty. The overall results provide a glimmer of hope for Taryn Torgerson's team. Torgerson said, "The potential of this group lies within the work they continue to put in."
