WICHITA, Kan. – The middle of a three game home stand welcomed the Missouri Western State Griffons to town on Thursday night. The Griffons and Jets squared off in Fugate Gymnasium in front of an energized Fugate Gymnasium. The Jets, however, fell 70-37.
Newman falls to 2-16 (0-12 MIAA) with Thursday night's loss. Missouri Western advances to 13-3 (7-3 MIAA) after their trip to Wichita.
Missouri Western jumped out to the lead early and did not concede it. It was not Newman's night as the Griffons stretched their lead to as many as 37 points with 1:21 left in third.
The Jets' offense was hindered by 31 turnovers. The Griffons only turned the ball over 10 times.
A bright spot on the night was that Newman assisted on 92% of their made field goals.
Sydney Nilles and
Lauryn Dubbert accounted for 6 of the 12 assists with three each.
Britney Ho scored 13 points and collected 5 rebounds. Ho was the leading scorer.
