TOPEKA, Kan. - Newman took a trip to Topeka to take on Washburn. The Ichabods brought their 'A' game as Newman fell 91-60.
Newman has lost 2 in a row now, falling to 4-12 (1-10 MIAA). The Ichabods are cruising at full strength with victories in 6 of their last 7 and a record of 12-7 (9-4 MIAA).
The Jets trailed just 28-25 with 5:27 remaining in the first half when
DeAndre Johnson laid one in. From that point on, the Ichabods took control with an 18-4 run taken into halftime.
Offensively, the Jets struggled to put runs together despite shooting 41.2% from the field. The Jets were hampered by 23 turnovers to Washburn's just 5.
Washburn dominated points off turnovers with 29 points to Newman's 2. The Ichabods also had a +20 advantage in points in the paint with 42.
DeAndre Johnson tied a season high with 11 points Wednesday night. Johnson also added 7 rebounds.
Israel Barnes gathered 7 boards as well along with 10 points, trailing only Johnson for the leading scorer on the night.
Ian Lee added 8 assists and a bucket.
