EDMOND, Okla. – Newman opened the 2022 part of the season with a trip to Edmond, Oklahoma. The Jets were in search of their first MIAA win. Central Oklahoma defeated the Jets 66-52.
The Jets fall to 2-11 (0-7 MIAA) on the season. UCO advances to 8-5 (4-3 MIAA) with the win.
In the first quarter, the Bronchos were rolling early behind Kelsey Johnson who finished the night with 30 points. Newman was dominated inside in the first half. The Bronchos scored 20 first half points in the paint to the Jets 10.
The second quarter saw both teams bursting for 44 total points with 22 a piece making the halftime score 42-32 in favor of the Bronchos.
Newman brought the game within 4 points in the third quarter before UCO stretched its lead to close out the game. The inside scoring was just too much for the Jets to handle as the Bronchos won 66-52.
Tiffany Dortland led all Jets with 16 points, 4 assists and 3 steals.
Britney Ho collected 6 boards along with adding 6 points.
Carissa Beck tallied 9 points on 3 three pointers.
Up next, the Jets are home against Rogers State Thursday at 5:30 PM. This will be Newman's first home game of 2022.
