Volleyball started their road stand on Tuesday night traveling to Pittsburg, Kansas to take on the 13-10 Pitt State Gorillas, a team which defeated Newman earlier in the season in 5 sets.
Pitt State swept Newman with scores of 25-22, 25-20, and 25-13.
Hannah Brisco led the Jets on the night with 7 kills. Natalie Trigo finished the game with 2 aces.
The Gorillas outhit the Jets .244 to .107 and had 5 aces on the day.
Newman looked to have had the momentum on their side late into the first set, going on a 5-0 run but Pitt State's Seville Gates ended the run to put the lead back at 2 at 24-22 before a Jets attack error gave the Gorillas the set 1 victory.
NU out-blocked PSU 6-2 on the night.
Newman will look to end it's it's slump as they return to play on Friday in Emporia, Kansas as they take on Emporia State. The Jets defeated the Hornets in 4 sets in September. That matchup is set for 6 PM.
