WICHITA- Newman Women's Basketball held their final non-conference game of the season Monday night against Manhattan Christian in what was previously a game set for Saturday afternoon before getting moved.

As a team, Newman broke the single game record for 3 pointers with 22, breaking the previous record of 19 against Randall in 2019.

The 91 point margin of victory beat the previous record of 69 against Central Christian in 2016.

The 115 points broke the single game points record which was previously 111 against Oklahoma Panhandle in 2011.

There was 36 assists in tonight's victory which breaks the previous record of 31 against Oklahoma Panhandle in 2012 and Kansas Christian in 2016.

The 25 steals beats the previous record of 21 against New Mexico Highlands in 2017.

Carissa Beck went an astounding 10-13 from the 3 point line which breaks the previous single game 3 point record of 8 which was held by Cheniqwa Banks against Central Christian in 2013 and Kaitlyn Potter x2 against Randall and UMSL in 2019.

Newman shot 50% from the floor as 3 Jets reached double digit points and 15 Jets scored as NU was 2 shy of tying the most field goals made in a game record after making 44 field goals, 22 being 3 pointers.

Britney Ho followed Beck's 30 point performance with 12 points to go along with 8 rebounds and Julia Reis scored 13 points off the bench going 3-5 from behind the arc.

Maddie Spagnola was 2-2 from the 3 point mark and had 3 steals on the night. Jordon Heckert led Newman's 25 steals with 4 of her own. Lauryn Dubbert added 9 points to the Jet total.

The Jets put this game away early as they rolled out to a whopping 26-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and continued that pace by scoring 31 in the 2nd quarter before scoring 58 points in the 2nd half, earning the Jets their 6th 100 point game in program history and their first since dropping 109 on Kansas Christian in 2016.

Newman's defense held the Thunder to only 8 field goals and caused 36 turnovers while out-rebounding Manhattan Christian 50-24.

The lights out performance was just what the Jets needed as they start MIAA play this Thursday in Jefferson City as they'll open up their 2022-23 conference schedule taking on Lincoln in a game slated for 5:30 PM before traveling to Warrensburg, Missouri to face Central Missouri this Saturday.
