KEARNEY, Ne. - Women's Basketball traveled to Nebraska Friday night to take on yet another challenging opponent in the form of a University of Nebraska Kearney Lopers team that is currently receiving votes. Some tough defense that forced the Jets into a poor shooting performance hurt the Jets early, and they wouldn't be able to fully recover, falling 35-59.
The first half was poor overall for the Jets as they were unable to put up numbers on a tough UNK defense. Star Center BRitney Ho was held scoreless in the first half for the first time this season. UNK held the Jets to just seven points effectively handicapping them for the second half and making a comeback extremely challenging.
Newman got closer to their usual form after halftime and were able to score more. Ho found her shot and broke into double digits. Turnovers continued to hurt the Jets however, and they wouldn't be able to close the gap with the Lopers before the final whistle.
Newman was led by Britney Ho as she put up a 14 point, 12 rebound double double.
Maddie Spagnola led the team in steals again as she was able to swipe three from the Lopers.
The Jets finish up against Fort Hays State on Sunday, December 18th at 2 PM before heading into Christmas Break.
