WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Men's basketball wrapped up their 2 game road trip of Missouri with a matchup against Central Missouri, who Newman last beat in January of 2020. Newman came into todays game looking for their first MIAA win of the season after falling by 1 point to Lincoln on Thursday night.
UCM would defeat Newman 69 to 53 in a game where Newman's turnovers proved costly as UCM would go on to score 21 off turnovers.
Newman would hold an early 5 point lead in the first half but couldn't hold on to it as UCM would get out to a 9 point lead before heading into the half up 6 over the Jets.
NU's turnovers would come around to haunt them in the 2nd half as UCM took full advantage of them and add to their 44 points in the paint.

Latik Murphy leading the way for all scorers on the court today and scored 16 of his 23 points in the 2nd half to get Newman within 13 and have an opportunity to claw their way back in the final 5 minutes. Newman would outshoot UCM in the first half 55.56 to 43.7 but couldn't capitalize on UCM mistakes early on. The Jets had only 8 points off turnovers the entire game.
Newman moves to 1-4 all time vs Central Missouri and look to notch their first MIAA win of the season with in state foe Pitt State coming in to Fugate Gymnasium this upcoming Wednesday in a matchup set for 7:30 PM.
