Bronchos contain the Jets in the second half

WICHITA, Kan. – Newman hosted UCO on Saturday afternoon in Fugate Gymnasium.  The Jets fell 77-62 after a battle with the Bronchos.
 
Newman falls to 2-22 (0-18 MIAA) with the loss in their lone contest of the week as UCO and the Jets are travel partners in the MIAA.  UCO is now 14-10 (10-8 MIAA) after making the trip north and containing Newman.
 
The Jets played the Bronchos to a 5 point first half difference as the two teams paced each other for 21 points a piece in the 2nd quarter.
 
Newman was tasked to contain a high powered offense and early in the contest they did everything they needed to keep the Bronchos reigned in.
 
The Bronchos used the third and fourth quarters to play swarming defense to hold the Newman offense to just 23 points after the Jets posted 39 in the first half.
 
Both teams battled foul trouble as there were 41 fouls between the two clubs.
 
The Bronchos shot a staggering 52.9% from the field.  The Jets paced UCO in the first half shooting 52%, but cooled off to 43.8% for the night after a cold 3rd quarter.
 
The scoring tandem of Britney Ho and Tiffany Dortland led the Jets with 19 and 17 respectively.  19 points are a new career high for Britney Ho, topping her previous best 17 back on 12/8 versus the Emporia State Hornets.

Dortland added 5 assists and Ho added 4 rebounds to their stat lines.  Laura Bello had 8 points and led the team with 5 rebounds.  Carissa Beck hit 2 three's on her way to 9 points.
 
Newman is back in action Thursday February 17th as they head to Tahlequah for another tough MIAA road game.  Tipoff is slated for 5:30 PM.
