Ho shines in Jets' defeat at RSU

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Newman and Rogers State squared off in Claremore, Oklahoma.  The Jets and Hillcats played a back and forth contest to a final result that found the Hillcats ahead 69-56.
 
Newman now sits at 2-24 (0-20 MIAA).  RSU Advances to 11-16 (7-14 MIAA) with the win at home.
 
Both teams used quarter long scoring runs to pull in front of the other in this give and take conference matchup.  It was the Hillcats taking the early advantage, leading 20-11 after the first 10 minutes.  RSU advanced their advantage to 16 points in the second quarter before the Jets closed out the half on a 9-2 run to settle the Hillcat lead to 9 at 31-22.  Junior, Britney Ho capped off the scoring run with a layup and finished the opening 20 minutes with 14 points and 4 rebounds.
 
The second half began with Newman in control.  The Jets rattled off an 18-3 run to open up half number two, showing impressive pace and execution over the first 8 minutes of the opening half.
 
Tiffany Dortland had 16 second half points to her 0 points in the opening 20 minutes.  The Jets' staggering opening half run was met by a 30-16 scoring advantage by the Hillcats in the 4th quarter that dampened the impressive scoring run of the third period.  The Hillcats swung the game in their favor with a 13 point margin of victory.
 
Britney Ho recorded her first double-double in her Jet career with a career high 24 points and another career best 10 rebounds.
 
Dortland's 16 second half points was the Jets' second highest scoring output.
 
Newman is back home for their final two contests of the season.  Up next for the Jets is the Homecoming Game against Lincoln University.  Tipoff on Thursday is slated for 5:30 PM.
