Senior send off done right with a win over Pitt State

WICHITA, Kan. – No better way to send off seniors than with a win.  That's exactly what R.J. Allen's squad did Saturday afternoon after downing the Pittsburg State Gorillas 73-63.

The Jets finish the season 6-12 (3-19 MIAA).  Pittsburg State stumbles to an 8-20 (7-15 MIAA) finish after dropping their final two contests of the season.

The Jets used the top 3 overall scorers in the game and 4 double-figure scorers to edge out the Gorillas.

The lead changed 9 times with 7 ties.  The Jets stretched their lead to as many as 12 points twice, once in each half.

The Jets were a perfect 15-15 from the charity stripe.  Despite going 6-24 from three the Newman club shot 40% on the day.

Stevie Strong went for 26 points 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the way for Newman.  Israel Barnes went for 17 points.

Seniors AJ Morris and DeAndre Johnson scored 14 and 10 respectively.  Johnson with a near double-double cleaned up the glass with nine rebounds.  David Javorsky grabbed eight boards himself while tacking on 4 points and sending 2 Gorilla shots back where they came from with a couple blocks.
