WICHITA, Kan. – Newman hosted #6 Fort Hays State in Fugate Gymnasium on Thursday night. The Jets were outmatched by the conference leading Tigers by a score of 79-30.
Newman falls to 2-20 (0-16 MIAA) with Thursday night's loss. #6 Fort Hays State advances to 17-2 (11-2 MIAA) after their trip South.
The Jets did not have the fire power to break the Tiger defense Thursday evening. Newman trailed 36-7 at the halftime break.
FHSU used 4 double figure scorers to overtake the Jets, leading by over 50 points with 1:47 remaining.
The Newman bench carried the load for the offense with 18 points coming from the bench, outscoring the starting five.
McKenna Anderson scored a career high 7 points in just three minutes off the bench to close out the game for Newman.
