WICHITA, Kan. – Newman Tennis squared off against Augustana University Sunday afternoon at the West Genesis Indoor Tennis Courts.  Newman Women participated in a non-conference match while the Men played a Conference match in the MIAA/GAC.
 
The Women faced the #16 ranked Augustana Vikings and suffered a 7-0 defeat.  The Jets took on the high powered Viking club short-handed with some non-covid illnesses running through the program.  Newman dropped all 7 points Sunday afternoon.

Directly following the Women's Match, Newman's Men's team took to the courts to square off a fresh faced Augustana club.  The Jets and Vikings battled to the finish for a conference result.  It was Newman who came out victorious 4-3 with the entire match coming down to the final point for Gustavo Gil.  The Jets brought the match back from being down 3-1 during Ali Mounir's third set comeback to make it 3-2.  Andrea Bramati rolled his opponent to make way for Gil's decisive match point to give the Jets a 4-3 victory.
