MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The Newman Tennis program made a trip south where they took on three opponent Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Both teams posted a 2-1 record.
Prior to the trip, the Jets had lost their previous four matches 3-4. Losses in which the Jets were playing solidly and the match came down to the final points. On Saturday the Jets snapped the skid with a 9-0 win over the University of the Ozarks. The men played one conference match which was lost to the University of Southern Arkansas on Sunday. Monday, the Jets got back to their winning ways with a 5-2 defeat of Texas A&M Texarkana.
The women played all non-conference matches down south. The Jets rocked their opponents in their two wins, winning 9-0 and 6-1 on Saturday and Monday. On Sunday, the Jets fell to a strong Southern Arkansas club that the Jets fell just 3-4 in. Isabella Campos Bifano had a strong weekend, including picking up two singles wins and winning all three of her doubles matches.
The jets are back in action in Great Bend as they take on the host Barton and Iowa Central Friday beginning at 10:30 AM.
