WICHITA – Newman Tennis played Southeastern Oklahoma State Thursday. The matches originally scheduled for outside were switched to an indoor match due to snowy conditions in the morning.
Men: Southeastern Oklahoma State 4 Newman 2
Women: Southeastern Oklahoma State 5 Newman 2
The men played at 1 PM over at the Rock Road Genesis. The teams were competing in an MIAA/GAC matchup.
The Savage Storm won the second and third doubles matches and with that clinch of the doubles point, the top pairs' match went unfinished.
On the singles side, the Jets got wins from
Gustavo Gil at number three and
Jarrod Nowak at five. Gil won (2-6, 6-4, 10-7) and Nowak emerged victorious with a (6-4, 6-3) score.
Once the match was clinched with three singles wins for Southeastern Oklahoma State, the number six match went unfinished.
On the women's side, the teams competed in a non-conference match at 8:30 PM at West Genesis.
The Storm were victorious 5-2, claiming the doubles point and 4 singles matches.
Despite losing the doubles point overall,
Isabela Campos Bifano and
Dana Issabayeva won their doubles match 6-4 at the number two pairings.
Much like the men, the women's team found success at the number three and number five singles matches.
Ana Zeikidze and
Divya Murali won their individual matches netting the Jets two points on the final match score.

The men will be back in action April 6 at Riverside against Southwestern.
The women's team is on the road for two MIAA matches. Saturday the squad heads to Tahlequah for a matchup with Northeastern State at 2 PM. On Sunday, the Jets will head to Edmond, Oklahoma at 11 AM.
