NEWTON, Kan. - The MIAA hosted the 2022 Women's Golf Championship right in Newman's backyard at Sand Creek Station in Newton Thursday through Saturday. Newman and 10 other MIAA schools competed for a shot at the conference crown. Newman finished in 10th place.
Despite missing out on the championship, the Jets secured their fifth top ten placement of the spring. Newman did not have a single top 10 finish in the fall. The improvement in the spring was thanks in part to the development of Freshman standout,
Felisa Sajulga. Sajulga placed T21 with a three round total score of 244. The College Station native was the lone Jet to post a score in the 70's with a first round 76.
Kassidy Chance placed 35 with rounds of 83-82-86.
Bethany Griffiths also placed in the top 50 with a 257 overall. Britney Wesley finished 51 while
Megan Bay finished her year with a 55 placement.
The Jets battled windy conditions that worsened as the week went on. Nebraska-Kearney took home the conference title with a team score of 934. The individual crown wnet to Claire Solovic. Full results are attached above.
