WICHITA – Newman fell to Northeastern State as the RiverHawks clinched the series win with another strong offensive performance.  The path to MIAA postseason play for the Jets now comes down to one final day.

The Jets drop to 22-23 (12-20 MIAA).  NSU is now 34-13 (22-10 MIAA).

NSU took care of business at the dish with 15 hits and 16 runs scored.

Newman scored two runs in the sixth off a Jenner Steele single and three runs in the seventh with a Zack Hargrove two run blast and Tyler Push solo blast.  It was not enough as the RiverHawks rolled to victory.

The path to the playoff is clear for the Jets.  Three components all must happen in order for Newman to clinch their first postseason berth in the MIAA era.

The first component is win against NSU.  That will take a stellar defensive and pitching performance and timely hitting from top to bottom as the RiverHawks have edged the Jets offensively in game one and two.

The second and third orders of business is the Jets need losses from Emporia State and Northwest Missouri State against the likes of Central Oklahoma and Rogers State.  If either team wins, the Jets are on the outside looking in.

All the hypotheticals go out the window if Newman does not first get the win on Senior Day as the Jets do not own tie breakers against ESU or NW.
