HAYS, Kans. – The Jet's Women's Golf Team competed in the Lady Tiger Classic in Hays, Kansas hosted by Fort Hays State.
Felisa Sajulga had the best result again for Newman finishing tied for 16th, shooting 158 in the 2 day classic that was good for a score of +14. She led the Jets in both days with the lowest score shooting 76 in day 1 and 82 in day 2. She improved from her score from the NSU Women's Classic by 2 strokes.
Megan Bay was able to salvage her day 1 score by shooting 9 strokes lower in day 2.
Alivia Nguyen,
Aiden Coffelt, and Beth Griffiths shot within 5 strokes of each other.
Newman finished in 11th place ahead of MIAA foe Lincoln and as a team shot 678 on the classic.
"My biggest takeaway from this tournament is that I think we learned a lot. We did not have our best showing and I am disappointed in the scores we shot, we had too many big numbers that added up quickly and on a course like Smoky Hill you must eliminate those to be successful. We know what we are capable of and are anxious to get back to work in preparation for our short turn around as we head to Edmond this upcoming weekend" said Head Coach
Taryn Torgerson of the girl's performance.
Newman returns to tournament play Monday and Tuesday in Edmond, Oklahoma for the Grace Shin Invitational hosted by Central Oklahoma.
