Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tyner records first career goal and assist in heartbreaking loss to SNU

BETHANY, Okla. – Newman Women's Soccer traveled to Oklahoma Saturday to face off against the SNU Crimson Storm in what turned out to be a close and exciting match. After some late game heroics for the Jets by Faith Tyner and Maria Stephens to make it a tied game, SNU scored in the last minute to take the match 4-3.

The game began with SNU building a strong 2 goal lead with Cameryn Peter and Fallon Weatherford scoring in the 12th and 29th minutes. It was Newman's Elle Johnson who scored late in the half off a first career assist by Faith Tyner to give the Jets some hope going into halftime.

After the half, SNU continued their aggressive play, raising the score to 3-1 with a goal from Kenzie Macklin. After a desperate 17 minutes of back and forth play, Faith Tyner showed up again for the Jets scoring her first career goal and setting them up to try and find the late game equalizer. Newman didn't have to wait long for that as Maria Stephens put one in to tie up the game in the 88th minute.

The Jets fought back hard and showed a lot of grit throughout the game, but it was SNU who would leave the game on top, as Fallon Weatherford scored again for them with just over 30 seconds left to play.

Newman (0-4) travels to Edmond to try and notch their first win when they face Central Oklahoma on Friday.
