TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Men's basketball wrapped up their 2 game road trip of Oklahoma, facing Northeastern State before returning home next Thursday to play host to Missouri Western.
The Jets fell 64-56 after the Riverhawks found their groove late in the 2nd half and bursted from an 8 point deficit to an 8 point victory.
Newman shot 54.17% from the field in the first half to start the second half up 34-27 but went cold in the 2nd half to shoot just 27.59%, giving NSU the opportunity to catch back up and cut into the Jets' lead. The Riverhawks shot 45% in the 2nd half to counter the hot start Newman had in the 1st half.
The Stevie duo of
Stevie Strong and
Stevie Smith would combine for 22 of Newman's 34 first half points but cooled off in the 2nd half.
Khaleem Bennett finished with 9 points on the day while Strong would finish with 16 and Smith with 18.
Newman will look to earn their 2nd MIAA victory of the season when Missouri Western visits Fugate Gymnasium for a matchup set for 7:30 PM.
