WICHITA - The Jets had their largest victory on the season against the Ouachita Baptist Tigers, winning in dominant fashion in a 4-0 victory.
Six seniors were celebrated for their contributions to Newman and the program. Several of them would have big moments to propel the Jets to victory. Also being celebrated was the memory of
Austin Madubuike, who suddenly passed away last season. In honor of his memory, his #4 jersey was retired before today's game. A small prayer session was held following the game in honor of Austin.
The Jets were dominant from the very first whistle, going on the offensive early on. It would be a huge day for senior
Felix Tellez Ramirez, as he started off his day with an assist to
Damian Gonzalez to put the Jets up 1-0.
His day would not be over, as he scored the Jets second just before halftime. The Jets looked comfortable on all fronts at half, and would continue their momentum going into the second.
Alberto Romano scored the third goal on the day for Newman, scoring from an outstanding bicycle kick off a cross from
Cameron Schroeder.
To make the victory even sweeter, Tellez Ramirez capped off his day with his second goal, giving the Jets a 4-0 victory.
The Jets will be on the road for the next two games, looking to avenge defeats against Northeastern State and Rogers State.
