WICHITA - The Jets completed their home stand on Thursday evening, hosting the nationally ranked Central Oklahoma Bronchos. It started off as a tight contest, but the #17 Bronchos showed why they were nationally ranked late in the match.
The Jets scored first against their ranked opponent, as each team was able to respond to the other in the early goings of the game. Just at the point in the game where the Jets looked poised to recover from a several point deficit, the Bronchos took the reins and dominated till the end of the set. Central Oklahoma took the first set, 25-15 in what would be the most competitive set of the night.
Both teams started in similar fashion as the first set, with leads traded several times. However, Central Oklahoma broke away earlier in the set than in the previous one and dominated till the end. Jets lost the 2nd set, 25-13.
From start to finish, the Bronchos dominated the third set. The Jets were unable to provide a spark that saw them play competitively in the first two sets. Bronchos won the third and final set in a route.
Ozioma Ajekwu led Newman in kills once again, taking her to a total of 130 on the season.
Makenna Reinert had a solid night, hitting .500% in the game.
The Jets will have their final two road matches of the season, heading to Fort Hays State on Thursday to start the two game roadtrip. The Jets will finish out the season with four games at home.
