Regional Action Week
Men's Basketball continues their homestand to open the season, taking on Kansas Christian on Thursday, before the Jets head on the road for the only time in November to take on regional foe William Jewell.

Last Time Out
Following a dramatic opening night win against Concordia St. Paul, the Jets took to the court less than 24 hours later to take on Minot State in the final game of the MIAA/NSIC Conference Challenge. The game would once again be close, as the Jets and Beavers battled it out to try and be the only team that weekend to move to 2-0.
Stevie Strong, who had 37 in his first game of the season, was held to just 16 by the Beavers. And while he added four more assists than he had in the previous game, he was held to just 40% from the field. Meanwhile,
Sam Somerhalder tied his career high in points with 15. The game was close until late in the 2
nd half, where foul trouble started catching up to the Jets. Minot State converted 16 of 22 free throws, while Newman only scored three. The game was truly won at the charity stripe for the Beavers, as they went on to win 73-59. Minot State would receive votes in the Central Region top 10 following their 2-0 weekend.

Scouting the Squadron
Following the two games last weekend, it looks as if
Stevie Strong is set for yet another strong season in Wichita. Averaging 26.5 points to start the year, Strong is looking to repeat as the conferences leading scorer for a second straight season.
Latik Murphy went back-to-back games with 16 points, looking like a major offensive weapon for the navy and red. He made some difficult shots this past weekend and is making over half of his shots.
Behind Enemy Lines
Kansas Christian has started their season 1-4, having also played in 2 exhibition games. One of their exhibition opponents was against Division I Prairie View A&M, who played KCC to open their 2023-24 season. Their start has come as a surprise to many, as the Falcons won the NCCAA Division II National Championship against Manhattan Christian last April, who the Jets will play next week. Their total losses from this season have already totaled that of last season, as the Falcons went 24-4 in route to their title win.
William Jewell started their season 2-0, defeating Davenport and Purdue Northwest in the GLVC/GLIAC Challenge. The Cardinals were picked to finish 4
th in the GLVC preseason coaches' poll, which is the highest that William Jewell has ever been picked to finish since joining the conference.
Their win on Sunday over Purdue Northwest was the program's 1,700
th win in school history, becoming only the sixth Division II school to reach the milestone.
The Cardinals have a deep roster, being led by several seniors and fifth year players. They are headlined by senior Jordan Jermain, who was named to the All-GLVC first team last year, averaging 15.5 points per game and shooting over 42% from the field.
The Series
The Jets are 1-0 all time against the Kansas Christian Falcons, with the only meeting coming in the 2018 season. The Jets won by 40 in that game, with a 88-48 victory.
Newman is 4-0 all time against William Jewell. The two teams met four times between 2011 and 2015. All four victories have been decided by less than 10 points, with the last game in 2015 being decided by just 3 points.
Upcoming Attractions
The Jets have two more non-conference games before conference, hosting Manhattan Christian just before Thanksgiving and hosting Barclay just after the holiday.
