JOPLIN, MO. -
Patricia Limo made Newman history today as she became the first woman from the Jet's Cross Country team to compete for a national championship.
Limo had received an at large bid, after she finished in 11th place at the NCAA Regional at the beginning of the month on the same course. She was also the first Jet in program history to be named All-MIAA after finishing 9th at the MIAA Championships.
In typical fashion this season, Limo broke her 6k record once again, beating her newest record by four seconds just weeks after setting it. It is the third school record that she has broken this year.
With a 62nd place finish, she was the second highest finisher for MIAA athletes competing at the event.
Overall, it was the seventh meet this season that a record had been broken by either cross country team this year.
It was quite the season for the cross country team, with records broken and impressive finishes from the first race of the year to the National Championships in Joplin.
