INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -
Patricia Limo was selected as an at-large bid to compete at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships on Monday, following her impressive performance at the NCAA Central Regional this past weekend. Limo, who finished in 11th place, becomes the first woman in program history to qualify for the National Championship.
Limo has consistently competed at a high level this season, breaking the women's 6k record in her first race of the season at the JK Gold in Wichita, and culminating with all-MIAA honors at the MIAA Championships and finishing 11th out of 217 runners.
Limo broke the 6k record set by herself multiple times this year. In her last race, she broke it by 40 seconds.
"I'm very proud of Patricia," said head cross country coach
Josh Schepis. "It is always really good to see a student athlete work that hard and be rewarded for it. In these last three meets of the year, she's been running very well. It's kind of fitting that in a year with so many school records and program firsts, she also becomes the first female cross country runner to qualify for the national championships."
The championships will be held on Saturday, November 18th at Tom Rutledge Cross Country in Joplin, Missouri. The women's race will begin at 10 a.m.
A live web stream of the championships will occur on www.ncaa.com from 10:00 a.m. until the conclusion of the awards ceremony.
