WICHITA- The Jets hosted Texas A&M-Texarkana.
Men's Tennis:Â
The Men couldn't pick up the doubles point, though it was a very close match and decided by just a few points. Gustavo Gil and Luca Penteado took their match 7-5. Jarrod Nowak and Ali Mounir had a close battle, but lost 6-7, which allowed the Eagles to take the doubles point.Â
Pedja Kolaric moved up to the #1 spot in singles for the Jets. Kolaric had a great showing in the top spot and dominated his opponent, 6-1 and 6-4.Â
Kurt Suarez Bruckner fought to the tiebreak in his match. Bruckner started off strong wining his first set 6-4. He fell behind in his second set, losing 6-1. The tie break was neck and neck however, Bruckner dropped some crucial points leading to his 8-10 loss.Â
Gil moved up to the #3 singles spot and won in 3 sets. Gil crushed it in the first and finished with a gutsy third set, winning both of those, 6-1.Â
Isfan Makhmudov and Nowak both showed their dominance in their matches. Makhmudov won 6-3 and 6-2. Nowak followed that with a 6-3 and 6-0 win.Â
Mounir played up in the #6 spot for the Jets. Mounir struggled in the first set losing 1-6, but bounced back to win the second set 6-1 and taking the tiebreak with ease, 10-2.Â
Newman won the match 5-2, finishing the week 2-0 and are currently on a 4 game win streak.Â
The Men are back in action Tuesday March 14th in Wichita, KS to take on Kansas Wesleyan.
Women's Tennis:Â
For the second time this week the Jets swept the doubles, 3-0. Divya Murali and Ani Zeikidze took their opponent down, 6-2. Isabela Campos Bifano and Dana Issabayeva took the easy win, 6-4. Amber Hands and Lauren Esfeld had a close battle but came out on top, 7-5.Â
The Jets singles started off strong, with 5 courts taking the first set win.Â
In the #1 spot, Issabayeva only dropped 1 game. Issabayeva took the win with ease 6-1 and 6-0.Â
Zeikidze played a solid match at the #2 spot and took the win 6-4 and 6-2.Â
Nicole Bono took her first set 6-3. The second set was a battle and was able to fight through the long, drawn out match to take the win 7-6.Â
Amber Hands and Marie Brunet continued the Jets streak. Hands took her match 6-2 and 6-0. Brunet defeated her opponent 6-2 in both sets.Â
Esfeld was the last of the singles to get on the courts, by this time the Jets had already clinched the win. The Eagles withdrew from the last match, allowing Esfeld to take the match by default.Â
The Jets absolutely dominated and took the win 7-0.Â
The Women are back in action Wednesday March 15th in Fulton, MO to take on William Woods.
